Apple powdery mildew is a common disease on apple trees, with its occurrence closely related to overcast and rainy weather as well as high humidity. Once the disease develops, it causes leaf spotting and premature defoliation, thereby reducing yield. The key to controlling apple powdery mildew lies in early prevention and the selection of appropriate fungicides—sulfur, specifically 50% sulfur suspension concentrate, is registered for use against apple powdery mildew and can be applied by spraying according to the label instructions.

Apple powdery mildew typically first shows symptoms on leaves, with lesions spreading from the lower to the upper parts of the tree and increasing in number over time. In the early stage, the symptoms are inconspicuous; by the time the lesions coalesce into patches and spraying is initiated, it is often too late. Therefore, frequent field scouting is essential—apply the first fungicide spray as soon as lesions appear on apple trees to suppress the pathogen at its source.
